COVID Sanitizing Christmas Presents

This winter, we all need to be cautious of what we’re bringing into our homes on a daily basis. Over the Christmas season, many homes will be bringing new toys and presents into their home to give to their loved ones. In the chaos of the holiday season, it may slip people's minds to clean and sanitize these items before they have a chance to contaminate other items in the home.
Different materials require different cleansing and sanitizing. Many plastic kid's toys are dishwasher safe and clothing can be tossed in the washing machine. For other non-porous toys and gifts, soak in a diluted bleach solution for 5 minutes, rinse with fresh water, and allow to air-dry. Other items can be wiped down or sanitized with an alcohol-based spray.
When in doubt regarding how to clean an item, you can always default to a 2-week quarantine of that item. Simply be sure to purchase the gift at least 2 weeks before Christmas (or the gifting date). You can always wrap the gift right away, so it is contained and ready to set aside for Christmas Day!
